The meeting between Carlinhos Brown and Maâlem Hamid El Kasri brings together two major figures, each deeply rooted in a musical tradition shaped by African heritage.
Having previously performed at the Festival’s 20th edition in 2017, Carlinhos Brown returns to the Essaouira stage for a new creation alongside one of the great Maâlems of the Gnaoua tradition.
On stage, two complete musical worlds come together, carried by powerful ensembles and a strong collective dimension.
The performance is built on an exchange of repertoires and energies: the rhythms of Bahia enter into dialogue with Gnaoua structures and sonic textures, in a continuous movement of circulation and reinterpretation.
Between Brazil and Morocco, this fusion creates a shared space where heritages intersect, respond to one another and transform, in a dynamic that is both celebratory and deeply immersive.
