Yasmine Hamdan burst on the scene at the end of the 1990s with Soapkills, the pioneering duo of Lebanon’s alternative scene, and went on to become one of most unique voices in the Arab world. She is based between Beirut and Paris, and her career takes her wherever she chooses, crossing languages, cultures, and aesthetics.
Her music combines Arab song, electronic textures, and pop or folk influences in a refined, almost minimalist style of writing, featuring voice. Through her albums, she develops a world that is both intimate and direct, where she eschews categories and reinvents the codes of contemporary Arab music.
With her recent album, I Remember I Forget (2025), Yasmine Hamdan continues to explore the territories of memory, displacement, and reinvention.
