Maâlem Moulay El Tayeb Dhibi was born in Marrakech in 1979, into a Gnaoua family where music is transmitted as a living breath. Trained from childhood by his father, Maâlem Moulay Abdellatif, he grew up surrounded by emblematic figures of Tagnaouite such as Mohamed Kouyou, Abdelkabir Ben Salloum, Mahjoub Al-Khlamousi, Zoukari Hassan and Haj Boujamaa. This rigorous musical upbringing shaped a precise style, deeply rooted and imbued with the spirit of ritual.
Renowned for his complete mastery of the Gnaoua rhythmic repertoire, he has established himself as one of the solid figures of the Marrakech scene. He has shared the stage with many renowned artists and made a strong impression during the 2018 edition of the Gnaoua and World Music Festival of Essaouira, performing on the main stage of Place Moulay Hassan alongside two other young Maâlems from Marrakech. Combining respect for tradition with a commitment to its transmission, Maâlem Moulay El Tayeb Dhibi continues a path faithful to his masters, in service of a sincere and living Gnaoua.
