BIOGRAPHY

MAÂLEM FATIMA EZZAHRA JEBLI

Originally from Essaouira, the cradle of Gnawa art, Fatima Ezzahra Jebli is a Gnawa artist, singer and instrumentalist. She engages with this musical universe through a personal journey, developing an approach grounded in practice and exploration, driven by a sensitivity to the connections between culture and environment. By embracing the different stages of the Gnawa tradition – from qraqeb playing to the mastery of rhythms and eventually the guembri – she builds a distinctive artistic expression, rooted in the codes of Tagnaouite while remaining open to contemporary forms. In 2024, she took part in a program led by the Berklee College of Music as part of the Gnaoua and World Music Festival of Essaouira, marking an important step in her journey. In 2026, she released her first track, “Lailaha Ila Lah,” for which she produced a music video in Essaouira, laying the foundations of her artistic identity. Through her performances, Fatima Ezzahra Jebli offers an interpretation centered on rhythm, voice and precision of execution. As a woman entering a historically male-dominated field, she is part of a contemporary dynamic that contributes to the emergence of new female voices and the renewal of the Gnawa scene, both in Morocco and internationally.
