Born in Marrakech and now based in Casablanca, Maâlem Abdenbi Gadari is a Gnawa artist whose path reflects a committed and authentic practice of tradition. Trained under the guidance of Maâlem H’mida Boussou, he gradually earned the status of Maâlem and developed a musical identity rooted in both Marrakech and Casablanca traditions. As leader of the group “Sidi Mimoun,” he pursues an active career in Morocco and abroad, particularly in Italy where he recorded an album. His style, deeply anchored in Gnawa tradition, reflects the richness and diversity of regional expressions. A regular at the Gnaoua and World Music Festival of Essaouira, he has taken part in numerous collaborations, notably in 2006 alongside French guitarist Titi Robin, and in 2009 with Moroccan DJs Unes and Hak’x. Widely appreciated by audiences, he frequently returns to both the main stages of the Festival and the more intimate setting of lilas.
