BIOGRAPHY

GANAVYA

Born in New York, Ganavya grew up between the United States and southern India, developing an approach to singing that blends South Asian devotional traditions with spiritual jazz. Her voice is at once delicate and soulful, manifesting a musical exploration deeply rooted in the concepts of ritual, community, and transmission.

Since completing her musical training at Berklee, UCLA, and Harvard, she has forged an unconventional path where music becomes a meeting place for disciplines, cultures, and spiritualities. Her work draws notably on the legacy of Alice Coltrane, which she carries forward into contemporary forms that combine improvisation, storytelling, and collective practices.

With Daughter of a Temple, a project she imagines as a gathering as much as an album, Ganavya brings together a constellation of artists to create a work imbued with devotion, sharing, and listening. Blending song, prayer, and improvisation, her music opens up a sensitive space where the intimate meets the collective.
