Bassist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Cheikh N’Doye has achieved recognition as a rising star on the contemporary jazz scene. He has developed a personal musical language that is both deeply rooted and open-minded, situated at the crossroads of African tradition and African-American music.
Since the success of his debut album, A Child’s Tale, he has established a style that moves easily between Gnawa rhythms, jazz-fusion, and Latin influences. His music is distinguished by great instrumental mastery and an ability to create dialogue between different aesthetics.
Through his numerous collaborations and his Cheikh N’Doye & Friends project, he explores a jazz in constant motion, sustained by frequent encounters and cultural exchanges.
