BOB MAGHRIB

Bob Maghrib is a Moroccan musical project offering a contemporary take on Bob Marley’s legacy, blending Jamaican reggae with the musical traditions of the Maghreb. Born out of a creative residency launched in 2011, the project is part of an initiative to foster dialogue between cultures and reinterpret musical repertoires.

Led by a line-up of renowned musicians from the Moroccan scene, Bob Maghrib develops a hybrid soundscape, where the guembri, ribab, loutar and traditional percussion redefine the structures of reggae. This approach gives rise to unique arrangements, rooted in African rhythms and Moroccan sounds.

On stage, the project revisits Bob Marley’s greatest compositions through this musical encounter, lending new depth to these tracks. Straddling musical tribute and creation, Bob Maghrib asserts a contemporary vision, driven by values of freedom, resistance, and intercultural dialogue.
