ART EXHIBITION
Essaouira Exhibition Presentation
This exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication in parallel to the 25th edition of the Gnaoua and World Music Festival, provides the opportunity to, firstly, offer a view of the diversity of Ministry’s artistic collection and, secondly, to present a wide panorama of the current national artistic production.
The works integral to this exhibition reflect recent acquisitions made by the Ministry in the framework of the 2020-2023 support programme reserved for the visual arts.
As a matter of fact, through the prism of this event, the Ministry hopes to reveal, encourage, and provide support for young Moroccan visual artists, while also consolidating and promoting the Ministry’s existing collection will the addition of particularly significant works, adopting the principles and criteria of acquisition that respect the rich heritage of our national fine arts schools, and being attentive to current issues facing the artistic community.
This exhibition casts a spotlight on the Ministry’s contemporary art collection, raising awareness among the public of certain aspects of the young artistic scene, including graduates of the Casablanca and Tetouan Beaux-Arts, as well as artists representing different movements around the country.
Between painting in a variety of styles, photography and inventive installations, these works—some of which will be on display for the first time—offer an opportunity to discover the sensitivity, visual arts research, and artistic commitment that define today’s art scene in Morocco.
