BIOGRAPHY

QUENTIN GHOMARI

the free trumpet

Passionate trumpeter, Quentin Ghomari has established himself as one of the most prominent figures of French contemporary jazz. Born in Rouen, he grew up in a town where jazz takes pride of place. Taught at the EIJ’s Jazz School, founded by Christian Garros, then at the Conservatory de Rouen, he refined his art before entering the National Conservatory Superior of Music and Dance in Paris, where he developed a demanding and open approach to his instrument.

In 2008, he co-founded Papanosh, a bold training program that pushes the boundaries of jazz. The group—from the collective Les Vibrants Défricheurs—stands out by its energy and creativity, giving rise to multiple acclaimed albums (“Your Beautiful Mother”, “Oh Yeah Oh”, “A Chicken in a Bottle”, “Home Songs”). His career led him also to collaborate with the collective Pegazz & l’Hélicon, and in particular Ping Machine, a group from the collective, with which he recorded albums like “Ubik” (2016) or “Easy Listening” (2016).

His career got a new boost in 2020 when he joined the prestigious Orchestre National de Jazz (ONJ) under the supervision of Fred Maurin, enriching the ensemble’s repertoire. In parallel, he launched his own project, Ôtrium, a more intimate program where he explores an introspective and modern jazz, mixing tradition and innovation. Ever in demand, Quentin Ghomari has collaborated with numerous artists and ensembles, including the Leïla Olivesi Octet, Laurent Cugny tentet, Bell, César Poirier Vivarium, and Gueorgui Kornazov Brass Spirit. Across his multiple experiences, he confirms his status as a versatile musician, always on the lookout for new textures and new sounding expressions.
