Moulay Abdelkarim Al-Aloui Lamrani was born into a family deeply rooted in the Gnaoua tradition. The son of Maâlem Moulay Hassan and Gnaouia Rokia, he grew up surrounded by rites, sacred sounds, and oral transmissions of Gnaoua. From a very early age, he learned to play the guembri and perform invocations at home, trained by several renowned masters. Throughout his career, he has performed alongside such emblematic figures of the Gnaoua as Maâlem El Sam, H’mida Bousso, Simohamed Kouair, Mustapha Baqbou, Abdelkebir Merchane, and the Oughessal brothers. These encounters have enriched his playing and nurtured his spiritual and poetic sensibilities. With a collective and deep-seated vision, he founded the group Sout Al-Rayah, with whom he toured extensively abroad, keeping the essence of ritual at the heart of the performance.
He currently performs alongside Maâlem Hamid El Kasri, with whom he recently completed a well-received European tour, hailed for its intensity and fidelity to the spirit of Gnaoua.
