Born in 1954 in Marrakech, Maâlem Abderrazak El Hadir recorded his first album in 1986. His long career has taken him to many stages since 1991, in Morocco and primarily in Spain, France, and the Netherlands. Maâlem El Hadir is unusual in that he has performed fusions with a number of Spanish musicians for over twenty years, creating duets with guitarist Jorge Gavalda and Brazilian DJ Liendro Scratch. He has several albums to his credit, most recently in 2012 with Tunde Jegede. He also joined the group Jil Jilala in 2008.
In 2019, he will perform for the first time at the Gnaoua and World Music Festival.
